The OPENMAT test is conducted twice a year and considered for admission to management programmes of IGNOU only. The OPENMAT exam pattern is usually the same every year. There will be a total of 200 Multiple Choice Questions which the candidates need to complete in 3 hours. The questions are divided into four sections.
General Awareness: 30 Questions
English Language: 50 Questions
Quantitative Aptitude: 50 Questions
Reasoning: 70 Questions
In the OPENMAT examination there are 200 questions to be solved in 180 minutes. So for sections like General Awareness, don’t spend a lot of time thinking of an answer. If you are unable to answer a question in the first reading, simply leave the question and move to the next question.
Attempt all the questions you know and then try for the questions you are somewhat doubtful. This way you can save a lot of time and attempt the maximum number of questions. There is no negative marking in the OPENMAT examination.
The candidates are advised to prepare for exam keeping the entrance exam pattern in mind. This will keep them focused and lead to comprehensive preparation. The cut-off for OPENMAT is decided by IGNOU. However, the minimum marks required to get admission to any of the management programmes offered by IGNOU, the student has to score at least 60% – 70%.
